Ensuring quality

Plant and food quality is central to fruit and vegetable production.  Without healthy plants and high quality produce to sell nothing else matters in horticulture.  Plant health, biosecurity and up-to-date pest risk assessments as key components of market access are important to international trade and protecting our domestic market and environment.  The Industry Standards and Food Safety Committee works with CHC staff and federal government departments such as the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) on issues which affect the quality of Canadian produce.
