As much as some might see fruit and vegetable production as something which takes place in a field or orchard, it is a business. And with over $5 billion dollars annually as of 2015 in farm cash receipts, it is big business. In order to make sure that Canadian horticulture is profitable and competitive globally, the Trade and Marketing Committee works with CHC staff and federal government departments on issues such as payment protection for produce sellers, market access, and sanitary/phytosanitary (SPS) issues.
